Seattle First Hill Street Car
The purpose of this City of Seattle project was to build a modern streetcar system providing urban mobility options. This project was an important link in the regional transit system which connects to the Link Light Rail in Capitol Hill, International District, as well as the Sounder Commuter Rail. This 2.5 mile route now serves six neighborhood communities, has six streetcars, and ten stations.
Furtado & Associates (as L&A at the time) was the land surveying sub-consultant responsible for creating project base maps and easement exhibits for the proposed alignment from the existing streetcar International District Station to the proposed Capital Hill Station. Tasks included surveying and locating public and private utility infrastructure for project-wide utility mapping, topographic surveys of all surface features in full detail to a distance of 75’ from intersections, including building lines/corners, traffic striping and pavement markings, location of traffic signal equipment, signal heads, overhead utilities & supports, overhead trolley wires & supports, and pick up surveys as requested by the designers.
