3D LiDAR Scanning

F&A owns and operates a variety of Trimble, Leica, and Z&F High-Definition Laser Scanners, which gives us the ability to collect large amounts of data in a short amount of time with a high degree of accuracy and detail. LiDAR scans can be quickly converted into topographical maps or 3D modeling of as-built structures to support further development.
The benefit of the 3D LiDAR method is that it can provide as much detail as needed for design. LiDAR scans are post-processed to provide enough detail to the base map to assist in preparing the options analysis documents, as well as to provide location information and as-built information. This technology also helps to completely convey the existing conditions of critical locations along the alignment, such as a power substation and municipal water tanks, as well as existing topographic elements, pavement markings, lighting, signage, vaults, manholes and other utilities in the area.
