Tukwila Sounder Commuter Rail Station
As prime consultant, Furtado & Associates (as Lin & Associates at the time) served as Sound Transit's Resident Engineer for the construction of the Tukwila Sounder Station. The purpose of the project was to replace the existing temporary leased parking lot with a new commuter rail station and transit center along Longacres Way. The project included building a new commuter rail station while maintaining the use and operation of the existing station. F&A developed a proposed work sequence that minimized the impacts to commuters and worked with Sound Transit, the design team, and BNSF to develop a bid set. This project also involved the clearing and excavation of a seven-acre vacant lot to make way for a new 390-stall parking lot, bus loop, and new pedestrian platforms for both buses and trains. F&A provided the pre-construction support services, final design review, construction contract administration, inspections, overseeing of special inspections and material testing, and closeout.
