SDOT Yesler Bridge
SDOT rehabilitated the Yesler Bridge over 4th Avenue due to low sufficiency and fracture critical design. Improvements to the bridge included removal of interior steel columns, improving intersection design to reduce crosswalk distance, and providing curb ramps that met ADA standards. However, they also worked to preserve historic elements of the bridge and its surroundings.
Furtado & Associates (as L&A at the time) provided topographical surveying within a limit of twenty feet of the bridge perimeter around 4th Ave, Yesler and Terrace. All visible utilities including electrical poles and overhead lines were located, as well as all utilities running under the bridge structure using 3D LiDAR technology. F&A also established horizontal and vertical control and surveyed existing manholes and drainage structures. |
